What organic means here
Organic honey is produced and checked under EU organic rules, and a named control body inspects the producer. For this honey that body is Ekoagros. We keep bees sustainably and look after the nature around the hives.
In the jar
Colour and flavour come from the flowers the bees visit, so they can change from one season to the next. We do not describe a fixed taste for that reason. Like most honeys, it may set over time.
At the table
Organic honey is used the way any honey is: wherever you want sweetness with some character.
- On toast with butter.
- Stirred into porridge.
- In black or herbal tea.
- In a dressing with mustard and olive oil.
- Over yoghurt with berries.
- On a slice of rye bread with soft cheese.
Questions
What does the control body do?
It is the organisation that inspects and certifies organic producers. The code printed on the pack identifies it.
Does organic honey taste different?
Taste follows the flowers rather than the label, so expect the usual variation between seasons.
Can I bake with it?
Yes. In the oven honey colours sooner than sugar does, so shorten the time before your first check.
Where does it come from?
From Lithuania, which is why the page says Origin: Lithuania.
Keeping it
Protect from direct sunlight. After opening, store in a cool and dry place.
